Get to know Miskolc and its surroundings
Miskolc is the country-town of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén country, and the third biggest settlement of the country. It lies at the feet of Bükk Mountains, which has a unique natural environment. The nearby mountains and clear lakes offer a pleasant relaxation throughout the year for the citizens and tourists. (it is suitable for making excursions, skiing, sledging and fishing).

One of the prides of Miskolc is Diósgyőr Castle, which was built in 1364 during the region of King Lewis the Great. The visitors can see traditional fares and games from May to September.

The 21 ha Wildlife Park is situated at the popular excrusion centre of Miskolc, which shows 370 individuals of 75 species in their natural environment. In addition to the showing of the fauna of the Bükk Mountains, the park shows the members of the fauna of Africa, Australia and Asia as well.

Going uphills to the Bükk Mountains after the Wildlife Park, we arrive at the picturesque Lillafüred. Besides the stalactite and limestone caves in the neighbourhood of Lake Hámos, we can admire the biggest rainfall of the country here. If the weather is nice, it is advisable to travel to Lillafüred by narrow-gauge railway. Going further by the railway, you can find the prehistoric furnace, and the trout-lakes, where you can eat fresh fish.
